Blues, Brews & Barbecue Festival

June 8th, 2019
If you’re a fan of live music, great food, and even better company, join 20,000 blues lovers at this year’s Blues, Brews & Barbecue festival on June 8th. At this year’s event, you can enjoy delicious barbecue from around the country as well as craft and domestic beers all while prominent musicians liven Allentown’s streets across six stages in the heart of downtown. The music is free, and the atmosphere is priceless!

Allentown Art Museum

If the heat outside becomes too much to bear, spend a day at the Allentown Art Museum. With a collection of over 19,000 works, the Allentown Art Museum is a local institution with stimulating exhibits and programs. This summer, a number of new exhibitions will be on display, including international artist and activist Ai Weiwei’s “Golden Age” wallpaper, a vintage evening gown display dubbed “Deco After Dark,” and a Japanese decorative arts collection of hand-carved stencils. Admission on Sundays and the third Thursday of every month is free, when the museum partners with the local art community to stay open after hours to present musical performances, film series, educational talks, and more.

Klein Farms

A bit outside town but worth the visit, Klein Farms is a dairy and creamery that has been in business for almost 100 years. The farm is run by third-generation farmers Layne and Beth Klein, who host visitors year-round to experience the grounds, visit with the animals, and sample the fresh gourmet cheeses, ice cream, and baked goods on offer. A great activity for the whole family, enjoying Klein Farms is a perfect way to spend a summer Saturday.

Great Allentown Fair

August 27 - September 2, 2019
Close out summer with the Great Allentown Fair, a local favorite and must-do before the weather turns and kids go back to school. Celebrating the area’s rich history in farming, agriculture, and crafts, the fair educates guests on the Lehigh Valley’s past and offers rides, games, and shows for people of all ages. After a century and a half, the fair continues to be a destination for locals and their families to celebrate traditions and immerse themselves in great music, food, entertainment, and more.
