Dining Along the Riverfront
Easton is a charming riverside city founded in 1752 along the confluence of the Delaware and Lehigh Rivers. Home to one of the three original readings of the Declaration of Independence, the oldest, continuous open-air farmer’s markets in the U.S., and functioning as a hub for industry, manufacturing and commerce since the 19th century, Easton is a historic destination with much of its original charm preserved.
Running along the waterfront, Easton’s downtown area houses shops, trendy restaurants, art galleries and havens for antique hunters. Easton may be a small city, but it is overflowing with an abundance of dining options, from Italian to Mexican to American comfort food and pubs.
Porters’ Pub & Restaurant keeps hopshunters happy with 60 beers from around the world, and its mahogany walls and ceiling adorned with over 2,000 beer mugs is a sight to behold. Serving lunch, dinner and late-night snacks seven days a week, Porters’ is a neighborhood favorite offering weekly specials and outdoor seating when the weather permits, allowing patrons to enjoy their meal over cool spring and summer nights.
Serving gourmet wood-fired pizzas, rich pasta dishes accompanied by an extensive wine list, Sette Luna is a traditional Tuscan trattoria bringing Italian classics to the Lehigh Valley. Sette Luna stands out for its food and wine earning it a Wine Spectator "Award of Excellence." Wine lovers should put this on their list. On Sundays, Sette Luna also hosts a lively brunch featuring live jazz music.
In addition to amazing dining options, downtown Easton is also home to over 100 shops ranging from clothing boutiques to art galleries to antique and collectible stores. The storied farmer’s market in Historic Centre Square is also a can’t-miss on Saturdays in Easton. All products sold at the Easton farmer’s market are locally grown and produced, with a variety of goods for sale including fresh fruit and vegetables, pasture raised meats and dairy, fresh flowers, arts and crafts, and prepared foods.
Easton’s riverfront has experienced a remarkable renaissance in recent years, with the greenspace expanse providing the setting for free music festivals and other performances in a 600 seat amphitheater. Riverside Park also has a large playground and a number of hiking and biking trails connecting to the Delaware and Lehigh National Heritage Corridor. Across the river, Phillipsburg is undergoing a revitalization as well, mirroring the success of Easton’s waterfront to provide the communities connected by Free Bridge even more options to enjoy the outdoors.
